Tiny Virtuosos has done it again and brought to the stage a completely unique and distinctive performance: The French Revolution performed by a group of small but mighty acting talents.
With swords and tricolor caps instead of Phrygian caps, the French Revolution was recreated in a charming yet profound way. The Bastille was represented by a fortified pillow fortress that stood bravely under the courageous onslaught of our young revolutionaries until it finally fell in an explosion of feathers.
The guillotine, an essential part of the revolution, naturally had to be toned down somewhat. Instead of heads, all that fell here were rubber balls painted with big eyes and distorted grimaces. Our little citizens, dressed in coats and berets, proclaimed with full chest and mighty voice the "Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the Citizen." The scenes of the third estate rebelling against injustice were excellently portrayed, with the citizens' dissatisfaction expressed through the injustice of evening sleep and unloved broccoli.
Tiny Virtuosos' depiction of the French Revolution was a fantastic mix of historical accuracy and childlike imagination that captivated the audience and filled the large stage with small but powerful energy. It was an unforgettable evening of revolution, laughter and enchanting theater. Vive the Tiny Virtuosos!
